My name is Melissa Sorell, RCS, MTC, RTC (Registered Clinical Supervisor, Master Therapeutic Counsellor, & Registered Therapeutic Counsellor) with ACCT #2484. I opened my private practice in 2019 to help people like you strengthen your relationships with others as well as yourself! I help people learn to naturally speak their truth with ease and comfort. My love and passion for therapy came from watching people take control of their lives and truly start to live authentically – empowering individuals to break-free from the cultural conditional of “being nice” and start to find their own power and voice in a way that honours, respects, and actually rebuilds your relationships. I will give you the simple and effective tools to authentically express your needs, wants, and preferences so that you can live the happy, healthy life that you deserve filled with stronger connections than you ever thought possible!

In school, I chose to specialize in “Couples & Marital Counselling”, Family Systems, and “Loss & Grief Counselling” thinking all of these topics couldn’t be further apart; I learned quite quickly how much these all entangled with one another and since have taken so many relationship courses of all sorts – marriage/couples, families, friendships, peers/colleagues/workplace, etc. and I have found through my work that most of the underlying issues is the inability to set and secure gentle boundaries. Individuals tend to either go to extremes and become too passive or too aggressive and both lose the beauty, safety, and security that setting healthy yet firm boundaries has to offer so this is where I have chosen to specialize in is helping you stay emotionally regulated, soft, and secure to help your rebuild and strengthen your relationships – without the guilt or shame! Human to human – I aim to create safety within our relationship so you can go out and create safety in all of your relationships!

Like many of you, I am mother, a wife, and animal lover! So when I am not in the office, you will find me spending time with my family and friends enjoying the simplicity of Northern Living – camping, hiking, swimming, parks, evening strolls, and backyard BBQ’s. I love READING and learning so in any quiet moment that I have, you will find me reading; counselling is more than ‘just a job’ it my true passion and my hearts fulfilment so believe me when I say to be a part of your journey is such an honour that I cherish.

If you’re ready to achieve deeper connections, then let’s talk today!
